Psalm 98:1 “Sing to the LORD a new song for he has done marvellous things.”
St Andrew's Street Baptist Church - that name on its own tells you very little except that we are "Baptist" andare located in a particular geographical position. So what are the things that really matter to us? What are the beliefs and practices that we regard as being of supreme importance?
The single most important truth for us is that “Jesus is Lord”". We believe that Jesus gave His life for us on the cross and that He rose again from the dead and is alive today. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and seek to base all that we do upon its teaching.
Because Jesus is Lord, we want to offer Him the worship of our lives, to obey His teaching and to communicate with Him through prayer. We practice Believers’ Baptism as a way of following the example of Jesus and showing our faith in Him. We also encourage people to become members of the church. Membership is important because we believe that the final point of authority in the church rests with the members who meet together to consider prayerfully Christ's will for the church.
We belong to the Baptist Union of Great Britain and support BMS: World Mission. We are also keen to work with Christians of other denominations. We want to see Christ’s love shared through word and action from Cambridge to every part of the world. To that end we support a number of missionaries throughout the world.
