COMMUNITY As a church we want to show love and care to those who work and live around us, and those who live in Cambridge as a whole. Below are some of the projects we are involved in.
Wednesday group - A group where people can share their concerns, pray for one another and enjoy fellowship together in an informal and supportive atmosphere. The group meets every two weeks on a Wednesday afternoon between 1.30pm and 3.00pm.
Friday Focus - meets once a month in our upstairs hall, normally on the first Friday of the month. We have a cooked lunch at 12.30pm followed by a talk. We have a variety of people speaking on different interesting subjects, from the Antarctic to charity work and on occasions an entertainer! The lunch is open to all those who wish to meet together for friendship and enjoy a good home cooked meal. Once or twice a year, an outing is organised, maybe to the seaside or a Garden Centre.
Please contact the church office (01223 506343) for more information about the above two meetings.
Money Advice Centre – We are involved in the running of a free money advice centre in Cambridge. The aim is to help people get out of and stay out of debt. Debt is such a relevant issue for so many people and can have a crippling effect on lives. We have trained volunteers from a variety of churches who give their time to advise and support those who come for help. Click here for the MAC link.
PASTORAL As a church family, St Andrew's Street Baptist Church is committed to caring for people. Whether that is people who come to the church regularly, those who used to come but through illness or old age are unable to come anymore, people who come to the church during the week for help or people within the community around us. A lot of the pastoral care of the church actually takes place through the friendships that develop on a Sunday and during the week as we seek to be a family to one another.

Pastoral Care in the church family Pastoral Support Committee – this is a committed group of volunteers who play a vital role in visiting older members of the congregation, those who are sick in hospital, those with new babies, or people who have been bereaved. They also take the flowers used in the Sunday display to different people each week. Alongside the visits of the minister and community worker this group ensures that those who are unable to come to church still feel part of the church family.

Prayer ministry At St A’s we believe in the importance and power of prayer. There are a number of opportunities for people to be prayed for, either after a service or during the week.
In our coffee shop there is also a prayer request box. We pray through these written requests each morning and encourage people to fill in prayer cards.
